Latur stands among the regions most affected by shrinking green cover, rising temperatures, and recurring drought. For many years, the land has lost its natural ability to heal itself leading to soil erosion, poor groundwater levels, and the disappearance of native species. This environmental decline affects every rural family, every farmer, and every child who will inherit this earth.
The Shivshree Vanrai Prakalp was created with a single belief:
Through mass plantation drives, development of ecological forests, and revival of rare native species, we are building a greener, healthier, and climate-resilient Latur. Each sapling planted today will become the shade, oxygen, home, and protection for the generations to come.

Plant love. Grow life. Gift a tree.
Because the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.

The Ecology Conservation Project by Shivshree Foundation is a long-term environmental initiative addressing Latur District’s critically low green cover, which ranks among the lowest in Maharashtra. Under this mission, the Shivshree Vanrai Prakalp promotes tree plantation of rare, native, and ecologically valuable species in collaboration with Forest Department, schools, local governing bodies, and community organizations such as Sahyadri Devrai.
Selection of tree species based on ecological importance, climate suitability, and local significance.
Focused on medicinal plants, fruit-bearing trees, sacred groves, and climate-resilient species.
Shivshree Vanrai (Sacred Groves):
Inspired by traditional ecological preservation methods; reconnecting communities with nature and culture.
Miyawaki Forests:
Dense, fast-growing forests using the Japanese method; biodiversity-rich green spaces even in
small areas.
Shivshree Nakshatra Van:
Based on 27 Nakshatras, each tree representing a birth star, enhancing
awareness through astrology and ecology.

Active involvement of school children, local farmers, and youth groups for community ownership.
We collaborate with verified nurseries and environmental partners to obtain strong, disease-free native saplings that have higher survival rates in Marathwada’s climate.
Before planting, our team prepares soil with organic manure, proper depth pits, spacing, and moisture-retention methods to ensure a strong start for each sapling.
This is the heart of the project.
Local caretakers, farmers, school eco-clubs, water them, and ensure survival with dedication.
Includes trench-making for water harvesting, weeding, pruning, micro-watering channels, bamboo support, and improving soil health.
We periodically enrich the soil with natural compost to support root development and improve long-term growth.
Mulching prevents water loss and protects young saplings from extreme heat, a major challenge in rural Latur.
Our field teams and volunteers ensure consistent watering — especially critical during summers — so young trees never face stress or dehydration.
Tree guards and eco-friendly barriers protect saplings from grazing cattle, winds, and accidental damage.
Drip pipes, hoses, trowels, cutters, pruning tools, and equipment required for plantation upkeep.
Transportation, supervision visits, survival tracking, and on-ground maintenance.
Not all trees serve the same purpose. Many plantation drives fail because they focus on fast-growing, non-native plants that cannot survive the region’s climate.
Our approach is rooted in ecological science. We plant native, medicinal, fruit-bearing, and rare species that naturally belong to this soil. These trees improve biodiversity, attract birds, stabilize the soil, strengthen groundwater recharge, and survive for decades.
Every sapling is selected with care — because one strong native tree creates an entire ecosystem around it.
When a community plants trees, it plants hope for generations yet to come.
